Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51M Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the World Series was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 various tongues.
